These are cropped pleated trousers from Kommatia Patterns. They recently moved from Etsy to their own website and don't seem to have this pattern up any more - hopefully it reappears as I think it's a good one!
In terms of style, Kommatia patterns seem to fall in pretty closely with modern ready-to-wear trends and fits, which as far as I can tell is actually fairly unusual in both indie & big pattern companies. Like many people, part of what I like about sewing is that I don't have to only wear what's in the shops - but it's nice to have the option to make rather than buy if I see a style that catches my eye.
I used the same black linen as I did for my Haremere jacket, making for a lovely summer suit that made me feel very easy-breezy and insouciant.
These trousers happen to fit me exactly how I wanted. The waist was spot on, and they are fitted enough to be flattering but loose enough to be comfortable. I also really like the pleats at the waist - I think it makes the trousers look more fitted than they actually are.
Construction-wise the instructions were clear and the fly, which I had been worried about, came out great first try. I also liked that there is a small folded over band/cuff in place of a traditional hem - it makes for a good clean finish.
I wore these a lot over the summer and am going to make another pair in time for next summer, perhaps altering the pattern for a full-length pair.
